+Ki Ho'alu in English translates to "slack the key" or "loosening the tuning key". Slack-key guitar is a finger-style genre of guitar music and unique tuning style that originated in Hawaii. Its name refers to its characteristic open tunings. Most slack-key tunings can be achieved by starting with a guitar in standard tuning and untuning or "slacking" one or more of the strings until the six strings form a single chord, frequently G major. This Homegrown Hawaiian "Ki Ho'alu" t-shirt design pays homage to the Hawaiian slack-key legends who shaped this uniquely Hawaiian genre of music and to those who continue to carry it on.
